after all these years

yesterday night was a special one, i met my old friend! as old as 7 to 8 years.

to say this world is small, it is a false statement. come on, if it is really that small, yamapi should be my neighbor then! :p

anyway by the fate we both ended up working at Singapore, and his house is nearby my office and home, so then i say, why not catch up somewhere nearby, and it is at little india area. so then it is only natural to feed on indian food at little india right?

this old friend of mine is a unique one, coz yesterday night was the first time i met him.

hahaha, oh well, we are friend thanks to internet and IRC, and it is funny that he is the only one left since that time that i still keep in touch with. from IRC to yahoo messanger to friendster to msn to facebook.

it is not that we always chat though. normally it is like, after few months then suddenly we msn each other and talk lots of things. but that's how we catch up with each other and manage to keep contact.

of course i tried not to think too much about it, but while waiting for him, there's odd and exciting feel at the same time, and mix of little bit of worry.

but it turns out well -all to thanks to his talkactiveness. hahahha, seriously adrian! you talked non stop and at such a speed, but i am really grateful eh! otherwise...it would be dreadfully awkward.

and also thanks, for stay in touch, for spending some time to meet up, and also for the interesting talks, now i know that's the different between new friend and old friend.

and i wont forget your most interesting sentence, after rolling your eyes and tilting your head sideway -say, 'bukan hubungan yang gampang'

HAHAHAHAHA~

oh, let's meet up again! with meke too! but please, no more indian food!

2nd wedding - weekend at batam

so in my 21st, i received my 1st two wedding invitations under my name.

one from my colleague,
second one also from my colleague.

the second one was last saturday, at batam. so whole company went to stay there one night.

congrats jai and selly!

half of the banquet, yep! half! it was almost as big as the one at my convo!

on the second day, early morning i went for swim and jacuzzi at the hotel :) then lunch Jai brought us to seafood place

that was the first time i tried this type :) the crabs and fishes was good too!

finally i got some-3 bodies to play uno with me! so happy!

last but not least, my dinner date -keiran.
hahhahhahhahhahaahhaa

he insisted for me to sit there, and he picked the seperated table from the rest.
the father said i looks like his favourite kindergarden teacher.
he is currently 5 years old.

interesting trip ^^

because we have different eyes

that's why we see things differently. and the different input being process differently, and so we think differently.

which is, just natural, in this big wide world.

anyway i went to batam for weekend trip. and made me think quite alot. on marriage and having kids. hahhaa, aish, of course it is still a long way to go for me, but it doesnt stop one from thinking about it right?

anyway 4 members of the 14 persons trip were babies, toddler and kid. from 2 families.

to put things into shorter format, let's say im gaining insight on why my mom from my childhood memories is a fierce, strict, hardly smile, and harsh in her words.

i grow up becoming a timid and shy and non-expressive kid, the one that's least adorable in the group.

be a lenient parents, and you produce an expressive, loud, and loveable kid.
be a strict parents, and you produce a polite, and good in following orders- kid.

the insight was, comparing how these two families handles their babies, i see the difference it made.

the complication is this, everybody loves the expressive kid, but none love the bratty spoiled one. but to me it seems to be a -package- you give treatment X, you get the result and side effect. that kind of idea.

seems that all will be left to the characters of the kids themselves. just like how different my bro and i, growing up in the same family.

but still, my conclusion (for today) is kid needs guidances. bratty one no matter how adorable needs to be teached. so yes, in my opinion it is very much up to the guardians.

to make myself happy, i.....

sing happy songs, though always off tune,

or spend some money on favourite desert or candy,

or read novel and dwell into the magical world and leave my worries behind,

but there's one real good way to lift up my mood, and i recommend it to you all, (highly- in fact!)

is to get paper and pen, and starts with, 'i am so happy and grateful now that----' and continue with whatever you want! your dreams, your hope, your heart desires.

remember to use present tense! a make belief story that you already have it in your hand, with you, right now. this moment.

as i write, i add things here and there, and polished my dreams, with more details. and getting happier. excited in the act. just like how i dwell into Lewis' narnia. this little simple act, unbelievably, works.

tell you what, i hope i can write my holiday to life! i am proposing to dad to bring us all whole family to go bali next cny for holiday. oh, dad is forever supportive, as he himself likes to jalan jalan and relaxing! but since it is premature, and who doesnt get excited on the word 'bali for holiday'? hope it is not going to be 'panas panas tahi ayam' as what the people from my hometown say, when things just 'hot' for a short while, and, that's it.

yesterday was pretty upset about something, and then come across this idea, and starts writing stories. and amazing, i become much happier at the end of the paper.

you should give it a try too! write anything! in present tense! and remember to starts with saying thank you and end it with saying thank you again. oh why, thanks to the universe of course!

another weekened had come and gone.

friday night was spent with hang watching cloudy with a chance of meatball. how lovely the artwork, but the storyline rather made me sick. greed is a bottomless pit. oh well, sure it was a happy ending story, but somehow it is very scary.

i wasted saturday hibernating, the weather was friendly and i was sleepy. went to chinese physician and had another massage on my butt and realized something is still very much wrong. cant go to aikido anytime soon. it had been more than a month since i last hit dojo :(

hang told me her hand injury is not getting any better. she had to gave up tennis now. she checked with a physician lately and it was almost 2 months since she had that injury and the physician told her she should had come earlier coz the muscle -thingy- once injured had to be taken care immediately otherwise -the mistake- will harden and sort of made you think it has recovered but in the long run or when we get older it would take a worse turn and when it had come to that stage it would had been too late.

oh blimey.

i should take my butt more seriously now. poor hang. she injured her left hand and she is left handed.

sunday was rather filled with guilt. and also
mind-adventuring to the land of talking beast, narnia.

have you in your life, people who you dont really fancy but yet you have to keep in touch with? oh i am sure you do. then you would understand my guilt. i asked to meet up but failed to provide details and was rather not wanting to meet and sandwiched with guilt, oh. so we didnt meet and i feel bad about it :( i am annoyed so i know i had done something wrong, i am sorry.

oh i had nice dream too, after finishing 'silver chair' till 2 oclock~ but once i got waken up by the noisy school boy who was heading to his last PSLE (primary school leaving exam - or last exam i donno which)~ uh, i totally couldnt remember the story, though it feel good somehow :)

and continue to my sleep, i dream something terrible.

err, i had ring in my hand and the scenario was: i was getting married.

but the ring is made of 9 white -real- jasmine flower and i wore it on my left thumb, something really special about it and i was showing it off to everyone, whom, i cant recoqnize any of them.

err, terrible in a sense that, urm, it is not a good news to dream somebody getting married.

oh blimey, it is just a dream.

bizzare dreams lately

lately, my dreams were all so- dramatic, i really have no idea why. funny that i woke up remembering it.

let me see... once, i dreamed me and my dad and my bro together at a boutique.

he was busy choosing a very...dramatic long dress for a lady, i dont know who. he was so excited and happy and asking for our opinion. i can remeber quite vividly, those gown are all full with bling bling sawn onto it. surely not a cheap stuff.

then one part i get angry and then confronted him, what is his relationship with that lady. he went angry but after awhile he admitted that he is seeing her.

wtf.

then another dream,

i was...in a high rise building, looks like an office with lots big big glass windows. we were preparing for something. something awful was going to happen, then suddenly one guy stand up, we all look up, and outside the window there's a huge...black cloud, sort of after an explosion,

weks,

that was the scenario of world doom!

so then i go and hug the guy, and kiss him on the cheek and said, 'till we meet again,'

wtf. again. aiyoh, cant belief it. no no no, i didnt watch any dramatic movie lately.

i had no whatsoever impression who is that guy eh. too bad. :p

any of you had interesting dream lately? ^____^

and so, I had a joyful weekend again.

End of the year is coming, mr.windy is back to Singapore. How I love the wind blowing into my room and brought in the tree and grass smell!

I was caught up between two choices yesterday. One was from juwita who asked me to join her and friends to walk down Chinatown for the lantern festival. Immediately I said yes of course. Then one hour later, my relative called and invited me over for a dinner. I hesitate but then I said yes too.

Family or friends, which one do you choose?

Or, is it the matter of ‘first come first serve’?

Or, is the weights of decision rely on the ‘preference’?

Well, I thought a lot of it recently.

Somehow I feel I had been taught to choose ‘family first’.

After reading this, you might say, ‘peggy you think too much.’ Probably, and I shouldn’t link these- two things together but I couldn’t help it. Anyway here was the story.

Remember I mentioned earlier I fell from roller blade? Ah ya, week 3 after the accident and I am recovering super fast! Thanks God! Other than a slight uncomfortable feel when I bend my body backward, I am doing fine.

That day was wei wei birthday. And of course they invited me over for lunch. But on that day I had arranged outing with friends since 3 weeks earlier and the worst part was because it was me who initiated the outing. So I said sorry to my family and ended up those friends didn’t make it to the outing, and worse, I injured myself.

Of course one couldn’t help but to think, had I been to the birthday lunch instead, I wouldn’t be in pain nor had spent lots of money on doctors and medicines.

But of course, from the accident, I do learn something.

So, that’s how I come to the conclusion – family first.

Anyway, continue from above… so we went over to the festival, which to my utter dismay and escalating disappointment, there’s nothing resemble the image and feel of ‘lantern festival’

There’s a huge and super brightly lit stage, loud sound system, and it was surrounded by smaller stands which was even more brightly lit with white fluorescent lights.

Sure there were lanterns hanging here and there. But it was under the tent, hanging pathetically – unlighted, beside the fluorescent light.
(Totally, totally, totally, so Singaporean style. The brightly lighted part I mean.)

I was deeply hoping to see a field filled with little warm candle light shinning from inside the colorful lantern, or kids here and there with their family, squatting trying to light little candles. But no, it was billions light years away different compare to my imagination.

Oh, had I mention the –modern-disastrous-lantern-design? As a toy itself it is a super fine, good one actually. But because it was being sold as lantern, I really want to puke looking at those things.

Wei wei and his cousin brother played at home earlier their lanterns. One was a little cute plastic airplane with 2 pilot bears that has really pretty light and cute music, and some part could turn-turn, it is seriously a nice toy. But it was made hanging from a stick, and meant to be lantern.

It was the cousin brother’s one. Then wei wei dad went into the room and bring out another one. This one is a larger helicopter, with prettier colourful lights and louder music. Wait. It was some heli plus bazooka plus I donno wat sound. And yes, hanging from a stick.

I wanted to faint.

I know that paper or plastic lantern with little candle might be dangerous, but hey, when else around the year you could get that excitement? How grateful I am to have still little fragment of my childhood memory, in the park, lots of yellow warm candles around, kids and parents chattering, pretty and prettier shaped lanterns…where had those days gone to?

How I miss my pjs9 housemates! So glad we had spent sometime together, forgetting the toa assignment for one night, hang traditional paper lanterns with little candles in it at our old - cloth hanger string, set the dining table out at the garage, boil some soup and had our steamboat and tong yun and yut peng under the moonlight.

I love candle. I mean, the little light from candle always had a mysterious magic shining out from it.

Well, I wouldn’t know what fun would I had if I were to choose ‘friends’ instead. Probably much more laughter, or prettier lantern to watch at Chinatown, more photo session I belief *those group of friends like to takes LOTS of photos.

But I enjoy myself equally that night. I came to a conclusion that, with family the fun level might not be that high, but it will always be somewhere that won’t let you down either.

Maybe God wanted me to learn something about this. Or else, why would they almost-always arrange meeting at the same day around the same time?

The fall from the roller blade

I had always belief that there are meanings behind every single thing that we encounter in our life. One might look bad at the moment, but it might look better as time passed by, and vise versa.

From the fall, well,

first of all I learn the danger of roller blade. Hahahha

Secondly, I learned that you suppose to use your hand to support your fall, and never to let your butt take it directly no matter how thickly ‘cushioned’ your butt is.

Thirdly, I learned that tailbone is the one that is working to support our body weight when we sit down or lay backward. So that’s why injuring it made you can’t sit. Or sport like cycling could injure your tailbone.

Fourthly, I get to know where to find Chinese physician centre. There’s one nearby my house. And the lady named Li Bing could massage real hard. She made me almost cried. And some aunties at the clinic asked her,’ Bing, are u massaging or delivering babies?!’

Fifth, oh, this should be anywhere above. I am glad that I work out some savings. Other than cares from other human being, the next thing that I needed the most during that time –and glad that I had it- is money. Dammit, beside my tailbone, it hurts my wallet too!

Sixth, I get to know that my office chair is a cheap one without ergonomic support. The injured tailbone tells everything.

Seventh, this is one that I had never or would never think of before. I give thanks to God for the good weather, or when the bus arrives early, or when I arrived home safely, or when I look into the mirror and see no pimples in my face, or for my foods.

I bet none of you will guess rightly.

Now every morning when I go out from the house, when I bend down to pick my shoes and wear the strips, I thank God, for I am able to wear my shoes again without pain.

You know, when I just injured my back, it hurts even with a slight bend, forward or backward. So it was really hard to wear or undress – especially long pants, or sweeping the floor or even to brush teeth – I ended up making my shirt wet for few days–, coz it hurts to bend forward. It made me feel miserable too.

And my daily shoe is one with sticking strips. Er, hope you know what I mean. So earlier, I need to flip my leg upward really carefully just to wear my shoe.

It recovers fast, and day by day the pain reduces and I can bend my body further. Upon realizing this, I feel…enlighten. ‘Hey, I found one more thing to be grateful for everyday.’

And eighth, probably, I grew wiser slightly. Hopefully a more thoughtful person I had become. Now I feel for the elderly more. Or those handicapped people. What I thought as ‘simple act’ might not be equally simple to them. I mean, of course it had always been that way. Just that I didn’t see or feel it that much previously.

This is also definitely something that wont come to my understanding had I not been in the pain myself.

Ninth, the next time doctor gave me pain killer; I should reject it or ask for smaller portion. The pain is a direct complain from body telling me, ‘hey don’t do this, I cant take it’ so I know how far can I bend today, or how fast can I walk now, or else if I had keep taking the painkiller, I am sure I would be triple careless and it would had taken longer time to heal right?

Well, thank you universe for everything. Hope I will get to discover more of it in the near future. And please, continue to make me a stronger and wiser person.
