birmingham 23 dec 2010

they said, Christmas is wonderful because of the sales.

23rd of December. decided to go out and do a little shopping early, but woke up late ^^"
still, it surprise me that the shop are quite...empty...even it's around 12 midday. has everybody done with their xmas shopping? or probably everybody busy patronizing the high end boutiques for xmas sale ^^

bought a winter thick turtle neck,

got this last week with discount ^^ going to save it until summer come!

the good thing about countries with seasons... they give discount for clothing past season~ some aren't worth buy because of the distinctive design (by next year, it would have been 'so last year') but these standard design are so worth to buy (without considering to convert it to rupiah okay)

got three pretty dress~ use to think these are for girls to wear when they go out with their boyfriend on a date, but heck, i think girls must dress up for themselves and not for others.

and the last two.....gyaa~ made in indonesia ^^"

this city is a pretty flat ground. the blue winter sky has a very soft baby blue colour to it

lovely afternoon, the cool air taste good.

my dinner turns out looking lovely hehehe... it is the carrot-tomato-potato-pork ribs soup from yesterday, and i add noodle plus fried egg with lots of spring onion =D

hate it

i hate the feeling that you come making conversation with me just because you want to probe and get information.

i hate that you keep checking on my work progress, i really hate that same feeling washing over me again.

i hate my old college classmates, those back stabber bitches who blamed me for existing and blocking their way to get 'A' wtf. and outcast me and leaving me for almost 2 years blaming myself, why couldn't i mix around well with them, there must be something wrong with me.

i hate how the bitches keep checking on my work progress, and probing for information, yet never share anything they know

i hate how you, exactly like them, consistently answering 'i dont know' or ' i haven't do anything' or 'i dont know what to do' every single time. probably it is my fault to ask anyway.

wtf

and im sure because im focusing in there, it is getting thicker and that's all i get from the so call 'friends' here.

alone i better be.

*emo*

Birmingham's 100th day

it is still feels...surreal....im spending xmas in winter wonderland.

white and greyish landscape

the snow is piling up~ stepping into the snow really make all these seems more surreal. im stepping into snow!!!

they feels kinda like walking in the sand, tiring actually. now it is dry, so it is still alright. when it melts...i cant begin to imagine how slippery it would be.

initially wanted to mark the 100th day with nice meal, but this one is pretty fun too. doesnt look attractive, next time gonna get more ingredients to put in =) noodle soaked in eggs, no rules in ingredients, just cook it in small fire and slowly, until it bcome crispy =)

December's magic, 18th dec

heavy snowing day~ it is still feels surreal whenever i see it snows and realize im in UK.

my recent purchase: coin holder

the most random thing i had ever wanted and really bought it : coins collector. cant resist it when i saw it at WHS bookstore. at first i noticed the stamps book that i had been wanting to buy (but had never seen it at indonesia malaysia singapore) and when i saw this, it totally feels right to buy. (and i ignored the stamps book ^^")

doesnt come cheap, this simple plastic holder. GBP 5,59 but feel totally rewarded when i started to fill in my UK coins =)

hope will have the fortune to travel to countries around europe and collects more coins =)

dont you think with modernization, you can easily get the same thing available everywhere? but the one thing that's very very very special to a country beside its flag is it's coins =D

german xmas market

Birmingham - Victoria Square

see see the ketchup container?! hahahaha...love it! and the booth, totally love all the details.

november 26th. sunny -3 celcius, lunch at the german market. tried this salami pretzel, looks so good yet...the pretzel is hard and cold.

wonder why at first. but as i munch it sitting at the side of the water feature, i realize it is very simple: no warm food can keep warm in weather like this!

therefore it is cold at the first place to not make you disappointed-i think ^^"

December's magic, 8th dec

this road used to fascinate me with it's row of yellow green red trees, now it is equally pretty

the sun and the cloud is rather dramatic, morning yet looks like afternoon~

birdie

on this nice morning i went to post office to fetch my book~

it's a lane of children hospital

i dont know why, but walking down the lane...it feels..i cant describe it, but it feels good. i love this small lane and the brown buildings. can't say it is familiar, but just, really feels good about it.

grass apparently remains green!

frosty grass, how surreal~

bet what's this stand selling? beer~!

the warm light and the quality of the stands really really really magical

german sausage bun~ oh how blissful those hot warm sausage...paired with cold bread *o* wonder why it is cold...

Last light

there's a saying that says, friends are like stars on the sky. you might not always see them, but they are and will always be there.

to me, that couldn't been any truer.

adding a little fact to the saying, that they are as far as millions light year away.

weaving final report 2

"To make matters worse, Jakarta is sinking. Groundwater extraction from 140 meters deep or more by factories, hotels, shopping centers and other developments, as well as backyard wells, has caused the land to sink by an average of 5 to 10 centimeters a year, according to World Bank studies, and up to 25 centimeters or more in the worst-hit areas. "

KURNIAWATI, Dewi. (2009) The Floods: A Swelling City Is at the Root of the Problem. Jakarta Globe, 24thJul, p.1

.....

T______T from the analysis, then im sure it is not only jakarta the only place that's sinking. because the national water supply is just not reliable, people escorted to dig out water on their own, eliminating monthly cost, which leads to using it with little reservation, and this is what happens.

5-10 cm is really alot *o* and this was stated on 2009.

oh indonesia. always sad stories whenever talking about the nature.

rant

----

simple little things that we done really shows up who we are.

---

no wonder Buddha said to watch over and be conscious in every single things we do.

---

Yesterday decided to cook a meal together with a friend because i still has a pack of instant rendang spices. she suggested to use my kitchen which is totally fine by me. after the groceries to get the meat she went back to her room and settle her laundry.

so i cooked the meat and cut the vegies i bought previously and cooked the rice and waited for her. and stir fry the vegies after the meat is more or less done.

at the end of the meal she told me she didn't has her wallet with her, but i decided to wave it off because she didn't eat much.

she washed her own plate and spoon and then leave to fetch her laundry.

didn't even bother with the pans, the table or even her glass.

---

it's more like i had just hosted a dinner instead of doing it together.
is this what it means better to be on my own?

---

that marked my 98th day in Birmingham. more or less, another 7 months to go.

it snows again~ quite heavily since the morning.

went out around 3 with ricca to do groceries shopping.

stepped unto a thick pile of snows.

the city seems even more quite now because of the weather. cars move slowly. people walks with caution.

surprisingly it isn't that slippery! it is frosty and feels funny.

white greyish landscape.

i dont know why but i actually seldom seen young westerner couple here holding hands in hands or walking together.

surely i seen some, but somehow the asian pops a stronger image to me. or the elderly couple. so much contrary to....say....singapore or Hong Kong.

saw a huge st.bernard sitting next to his master who is performing songs at the front of a shop. it is really h..u..g..e!

and coming to UK made me realize and override the image that westerner are of a bigger size. the white they are surely of a larger body size.

not really! and im surprise to learn, that the girls are as skinny as our Singaporean youngster, some even shorter than me, and hardly seen girls that are huge. maybe that's for UK.

though guy i would say are yes generally taller. but i really seldom see the fat one. maybe hidden under the thick layers of coat =p

Im totally thankful that im alive today and able to say that -3 is still very much bearable.

weaving final report

trying to weave just introduction part of my report, but it is so so so much more difficult than it seems *o*

but i still think research is interesting especially (thanks to) internet, you can get information as easy as few clicks, so in an hour my browser is full with webpages that i found after reading one and lead to another.

landed on greenpeace website and found an article about our beloved country wanting to reduce the global greenhouse emission as much as 26% by 2020 from BAU. (President SBY, 2010)

BAU?

[Business As Usual]

what an acronym!
