S-pass

wohaa~ it's 1st July 2008. the day i officially starting work at ORB associates.

i think i want to share about how i get my S-pass (coz it's such a long journey)
okay, for my qualification as diploma holder, the working pass i can have is either s-pass or e-pass. each of them had their requirement, you can check it at MOM -ministry of manpower, Singapore.

and so for me, I'm only qualified for S-pass. so boss go online and submit the application for me. after 7 working days the status from pending become approved. (you can check your status online with the application number you have)

when it's approved, MOM will send a stack of paper which is called IPA (in principle approval letter) which will state down all your rights and bla bla and of course what you will need to do to proceed the 'next stage'

nah. that letter will tell you that you will need to do medical check up (and they attached the medical check up form. bring that along to the clinic and tell them you want to get a medical check up for S-pass) it cost SGD 42 at SATA clinic. the check up are scan for heart and blo0d test to check for HIV. you will get the result the next day or in 2 days.

also it have few pages need to be signed and get stamped from boss and office. and you will need to sign too. and provide 1 pasport size-photo.

and! starting Jan 2008 it require employer to buy a medical insurance which coverage is min. SGD 5000.

after having everything in hand, go to MOM at Clarke Quay and submit it. (of course, after surviving the long queue...go earlier lo.. it open from 8-4) at there you will pay the pass which cost SGD30 one year (please refer back to MOM web and check the price)

there after payment they will give you a letter telling you instructions. it's that you have to go to work pass devision at Tanjong Pagar Complex to give your photo and thumb print within 7 days from then day you make the submission and payment. again, go earlier please!!! 9 something will do. (if you dont want to feel fainted like me when i arrived around 10.) eventhough at the letter write you will need 2 pasport size photos,they actually just take it to scan it in and return it to you.

then you will need wait 4 working days then only the card will be out. you can collect it after 4 days, but they told me it only have 7 days allowance. so after 4 days back to Tanjong pagar and collect it. just bring the letter where they stamped the collection date. and that's all! you dont need to check in-out from singapore. and next time when you out and in again just present the card together with your pasport and they will just scan the card. (no more stamp in the pasport)

and all cost are to be paid by employer. it is stated at the IPA letter. total cost for my 1 year S-pass is 10 (online application fees) + 42 (medical check up fees) + 30 (the fees for 1 year s-pass).

i hope this will be helpful :) for i had shorten it, into a really short story. geez. my own experience was 3-4 times longer. because of my blur-ness and also other things. anyway i am happy i got the card with me now! thanks God!
